#10 Frog

Everyone was there on Oberon and Titania’s wedding day. Everyone except for the Frog King. The Frog King was heartbroken. Titania had been his first love. And however delusional, he thought he was hers.

He first saw her kneeling among the branches of the willow tree at the lake, where he was resting. The moon was bright and unclouded, pouring a sheen of light against her as she slowly spun herself into a spool of white. Before the threads finally obscured her face, Titania smiled in the Frog King's direction.

Every night after, the Frog King visited Titania, watching over her. He brought her bowls of honey and milk in case it was the night of her emergence. He ate all the flies that came to bother her and made a pact with the Crow King so the birds will not come near her either. He waited each day hoping that Titania would one day wake up to find him by her side, and fall in love with him the way he did with her. He wanted nothing more than her heart.

What he didn't know was that Titania had already given it to someone else.

I guess I couldn't resist continuing to explore the fairy royals. Also #Niceguy Frog King, at least he didn't act on his entitlement. Not Frog King (Kwok Mangho), the Hong Kong artist, though I was briefly tempted to go art history on this one.
