#05 Rise
Squinting at the pale pinks and blues outside her window, she crawled out of bed while wrapping the warm duvet around her scaly green skin. She scurried across the room, her bare feet never on the stone ground for long enough to feel the morning chill, and turned on the heating. It was far too early to actually get ready, but something in the back of her mind kept nagging at her. Today was important and she had to leave the house. But why?
She shrugged. It’ll come to her at some point. As she stared at the slowly shifting skies, cocooned in her blankets, she began planning her day.
Perhaps she could bathe her hair today. It was a treat because it was so much work to lightly massage every single part of her head. But she's had a long week, and maybe that was why she forgot what today was. It's alright though. The steam from a hot bath always seemed to clear up her mind. The snakes wrapped around her scalp hissed in delight as she swaddled into the connected bathroom, turned on the bathtub faucet, and placed her hand under the running water.
It was cold.
Rolling back her yellowed eyes, Medusa flipped on the switch of the boiler and fell back into bed. It really is too early, she yawned. Her snakes would wake her up when the water is ready.
What Medusa had forgotten was a post-it note stuck to her coffee pot, in the kitchenette outside her bedroom.
“Perseus is coming today.”

Also a strange little modern take on Medusa. Spoiler (not really?); Perseus is the demi-god who killed Medusa while she was asleep.
