L'Œil de L'Âme Tarot (2019 - 2021)

The tarot is currently available for purchase on my online store.

L'Œil de L'Âme Tarot is the first tarot deck I created between 2019 - 2021 and includes 86 illustrated cards (originally watercolour illustrations).

The deck is currently in the collections of the Tate Library (London), and Asia Art Archive (Hong Kong).

L’Œil de L’Âme Tarot is the first completed large project I made to prove my capability of creating a large series of paintings. I had been itching to make my own tarot deck ever since I started reading with them when I was fifteen, but it was only in April 2019 that I painted the first card of this deck. It's a very personal deck and project, where every card was painted with specific memories and scenarios in mind, and are filled with whimsical yet dark symbols that illustrate the nuances one faces in life.

By the November 2019, I had completed the first 22 cards of the deck, also known as the Major Arcana, which I exhibited in a self-organised fundraising solo exhibition at a flower shop, Be Tabula Rasa, in Prince Edward. It was at that exhibition that I created a prototype deck and began tarot reading as a business, and with positive feedback and support, I decided to complete the entire deck, painting the remaining 64 cards by the end of 2020. The project was then fully-funded via Kickstarter by 249 backers, and the first edition of the tarot deck was published in 2021.

The tarot deck has a total of 86 cards that feature 86 original watercolour paintings, then printed on matte-laminated 400 gsm paper, and contained in a matte-laminated two lidded, open-book style box with gold foil.

As the tarot deck is designed according to my own reading styles, I’ve separated the deck into three distinct styles in reference to the type of information and messages they give.
