#16 Summit

I’m not much of a hiker. I call an evening walk up Garden Hill (a very small hill in sham shui po) a hike. The last time I actually made my way to a mountain top was when I was still in university. My hall (dormitory community that acts like a mix-gendered frat) had a strange tradition of hiking up to the Peak at night, a ritualistic metaphor for completing a journey at the end of orientation — or what I’d call a Hong Konger’s Hazing.

So you could imagine my exasperation in having to come up with a story for this prompt. The word summit proved to be just as difficult to navigate as its definition. So being the codependent girlfriend I am, I turned to my boyfriend for help. And this was his reply:

“You just av to write summit, init!”

So I wrote “summit.“
